Fall Kickoff!

Moni! That means “hello” in Chichewa, the national language of Malawi. After a summer of hard work and planning, our Steering Committee is proud to kickoff this fall with a number of cool updates!

As a Steering Committee, we set a fundraising goal for ourselves. Each member is raising a minimum of $200 to send to the Pothawira village in Malawi. If you’re interested in donating to the cause as a whole, email mizzouformalawi@gmail.com for more information, or visit any of the Steering Committee’s GoFundMe pages to help us reach our personal goals! Every single cent truly does help us to make a difference.

Next, our merchandise committee has been working on some hot new apparel! Look for us in Speaker’s Circle to purchase any of our awesome gear, and make sure to wear it on #MalawiMondays. Follow us on Twitter and Facebook to find out when we’ll be tabling on campus, and look out for new Chisangalalo apparel coming very soon! The Steering Committee also received new soft-shell SteerCo jackets so we can represent our Malawi love all winter long!

The PR committee has come up with a few new social media campaigns! Look for our SteerCo Spotlight every week to find out more about why we all love Mizzou for Malawi. We’re also on Instagram now! Follow us for updates on fundraising, the child of the week, and even fun Chichewa vocabulary.

The events committee has been tirelessly planning our BIG fall event, Chisangalalo! This means “celebration” in Chichewa. The official date will be…drumroll please…November 6th at BBCII downtown! Keep checking back for more updates as the Steering Committee starts selling tickets and merchandise for the event. If you’re a business interested in partially sponsoring Mizzou for Malawi (you get your name on a sweet t-shirt and can feel warm and fuzzy about helping orphans) email mizzouformalawi@gmail.com!
